Conversing with the Devils, and Reclaiming the Heretics Print E-mail
Thursday, 06 March 2008

Michael Patton and his bunch of cronies with "Conversing with the Scholars" are going to commit heresy this March the 20th by having Dan Kimball of the Emerging Church on their program in the name of freedom of debate.  America is going to freedom itself to death.  Why not have the devil himself on the program?  The Emerging Church is doing nothing but reviving Mariology and Medieval Catholicism.  James White of Alpha and Omega Ministries, who is tough on Catholics on his program, even confronted Michael Patton once on his program; however, when James White talked to Michael Patton, he seemed afraid of him by not challenging Michael Patton.  Maybe he was afraid of hurting his feelings?  By the way, Michael Patton was late getting on the program, because , believe it or not, he had to put his children's Christmas toys together.  We see where his priorities were.

The banner cry of (and listen to my play on words here carefully) postmodern, sheep-in-wolves-clothing, yuppie heretics and theologians "doing" theology, or should we say "undoing" theology is not only silly, but pernicious and insidious.  While the church is being destroyed, I hear nothing but "irenic" theology.  Oh no, let us not dare to offend anyone, but let us "do" theology and all go to hell together.  At the risk of being called old-fashioned, let me state here and now we need some polemic theology.  We are at war.  The apostle Paul stated we fight not against flesh but evil spirits and the darkness of this world.  Should we appease people by appealing to their dark and diseased secular indwelling to get scores of numbers of people in church by "emerging" and immersing them with secular playtoys thinking that if we can only get them into church, we can somehow save their souls?  Only the triune God through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit can do that!

Let us "converse with the scholars" and through "reclaiming the mind" allow us to "do" theology and by doing something, trot off with our silly little usernames and our  texttyping giggles and our poor audio service and we shall be off to save the world!

The Heresies of the Apostolic Age Print E-mail
Monday, 21 January 2008

Intimations were given in Scripture while the apostles lived of the errors exposed which disturbed the peace and purity of the Church, and predictions of continuance and extension of these and others were given also. And these heresies were prominent and dominated the writings of the Early Church Fathers. Irenaeus, a disciple of Polycarp, flourished in the latter second century and wrote against these errors through a Latin translation. Hippolytus, along with him, is the main source as to early heretical doctrine.

The Apostles' Creed Print E-mail
Saturday, 05 January 2008
The New Testament books are all authoritative and canonical.  The other works ascribed to the Apostles (whether Gospels, epistles, liturgies) are not, either due to being destitute of external historical evidence, or spurious internal evidence derived from their contents.

However, one piece (or production) which favors a claim to apostolic origin and genuineness due to no specific internal proof of spuriousness, which is commonly called the Apostles' Creed, Symbolum Apostolicum.  It is the doctrine of the Roman Church that this Creed was composed of the apostles under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and was possessed of the same direct, divine, spiritual, canonical authority of Scripture.  Protestants denied it was composed by the apostles or had any authority, but they admitted it contains sound doctrine accorded and established by Scripture.

The Lutherans and Anglican churches adopted it with the Nicene and Athanasian creeds as part of their symbolical profession of faith.

The Westminster divines subjoined it to the catechisms, the Ten Commandments, and the Lord's Prayer with an explanatory statement: it was annexed because of the apostles' composition of canonical Scripture, but it summarizes the Christian faith and it was anciently received in the churches of Christ.

Putting the X into Christmas Print E-mail
Friday, 21 December 2007

Many purported preachers in America use the ignorant cliché concerning Christ being deleted from Christmas in the word “Xmas.”

This mistake shows the everlasting apathy and laziness of most of America's preachers and laity.  It also indicates the need for Christians to learn the original language of the New Testament: koine Greek.  The letter “x” is the Greek letter “chi” which is transliterated “ch.”  Therefore, Christ is there but abbreviated.

The logo for biblecontroversy.com is the chiros which is composed of the Greek letters “chi’ and “rho.”  They would be transliterated “ch” and “p.”

People will say, "Why do words and letters matter?"  Well, your salvation might be at stake.  Whether or not the Greek words "homoousious" meaning "same" or "homoiousios" meaning “like” is applicable to Christ as The Word means either Christ was God or simply a created creature.

There is a wonderful anecdote about a wife who cabled her husband about buying a $75,000 bracelet.  The husband cabled back to her stating "No, price too high."  However, the cable operator in transmitting the message, missed the signal for the comma.  The woman received a message which read, "No price too high."  She bought the bracelet; the husband sued the company and won.

With all the so-called freedom in this country and with Americans being so independent, it is somewhat of an irony for most Americans and Christians to be led by the nose.

The 21-Day Fast: To be, or not to be? Print E-mail
Wednesday, 19 December 2007

Is fasting a part of the New Covenant?  Or is it like "circumcision" in that it does not apply to the Christian?  When Christ was asked about his disciples not fasting, he replied that they do not now fast, but after He is gone, they will.  When Christ said the disciples will fast after He is gone, does the word "fast" mean a literal fasting or does it mean a literal hungering after Christ?

In any case, the Pentecostals and Charismatics have made much gain out of this Old Testament rite monetarily and so-called theologically, if one can say these people have any theology at all.  For the most part, they are theologically ignorant and sycophantly eager to gain their 30 pieces of silver. One such example, Jentezen Franklin Ministries - Free Chapel Worship Center and his 21-Day Fast CD Pak is a morose debauchery of Christian theology.

How many more of these ridiculous charades will haunt and prey on the gullible American religious public?
