Heresies and controversies to Holy Scripture not only created orthodox doctrine found in Sola Scriptura, but also created the understanding of salvation for the elect through true Biblical illumination over the last 2000 years.  We have much greater doctrinal and revelational material than since and ever after the Ascension of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  The Trinity is a most important doctrine, for example, for salvation.  Heresies and controversies are the dirt which were excavated to discover the golden nuggets embedded in Holy Scripture.
